First ‘Atlantic Crossing’
On March 1st, 2010, in commemeration of the MV
Erieborg's maiden voyage to the U.S. with steelproducts from
Oxelösund, Sweden, a plaque was presented to Capt. Robert Wetzinga
from Tom Keefer, Marketing Dept. of the Port of Wilmington,
Delaware. Several people from the Terminal, alongwith the port
agent from Wilhelmsen Ships Service, attended the presentation and
then received a nice tour of the vessel from Capt. Wetzinga.
The following were in attendance from the
Port: Tom Keefer (Deputy Executive Dir. and plaque presenter, John
Haroldson (Manager Intl. Trade), Jerry Custis Manger
(Security/Facility Security Officer), Victor Farkas (Controller)
and on Jaffe (Fincancial Aanalyst). Their comments: “We were very
appreciative of the Captain's extraordinary hospitality! That fact
that his schedule allowed for the personal and very thorough tour
was most appreciated, especially by those in the
group who had limited on-vessel experience.
The Erieborg is a beautiful ship. Thanks to Captain Wetzinga for
his generosity!”
The 11,300 DWT Erieborg was delivered by Royal
Niestern Sander, Delfzijl, The Netherlands on November
26th, 2009.
