The MV Exeborg became the first ocean-going vessel to reach the Port of Montreal without a stopover in 2020, by crossing the downstream limits of the Port at Sorel on January 3, at 2:11 a.m.
Winter is coming. And that remains special for us every year. Where nature around us keeps hibernation and waits for the days to get longer, we continue to sail through large ice plains with our ice-strengthened ships. With Christmas on the horizon, it's time to look back on 2019. With a continuous focus on safety, innovation and sustainability, Wagenborg maintains her reputation as the multipurpose short sea shipping company. As we move into 2020, here is a look back on some stories that moved our company last year.
Under agency of Wagenborg, the MV Rijnborg arrived in the port of Delfzijl. Upon arrival, she was assisted by the tug 'Watergeus' and 60tBP ASD tug 'Waterstraat'.
On November 29th Wagenborg was invited to the Waterborne transport conference in Brussels to join a panel about zero emission shipping. Theo Klimp, fleet director at Wagenborg Shipping and KVNR board member, has reflected on three questions; what do we want to achieve, what did we contribute already and what will we contribute, what other interventions are needed and by whom.
The vast majority of the Wagenborg has been switched to Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) as a response on the upcoming sulphur cap starting on January 1st 2020. As off 1st November – two months before the cap comes into force - Wagenborg started to order the new low sulphur compliant fuel.
Wagenborg was asked by a ship-dismantling company in Kampen, the Netherlands, to assist with her 300t floating crane Triton and Wagenborg Barge 1 to lift the ~2.500t weighing ex-fregat “Köln” from the water onto the quay side.
From November 26th until November 28th 2018 WindEurope 2019 will take place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. WindEurope 2019 is one of the leading offshore exhibitions in Europe.
