Recently, some records were broken at the German steel factory in Völklingen: a new building steel mill project of 530(!) meters long and an investment of about 500 million Euros was realised. The most precious piece of equipment was a 12.000 tons steel press with a weight of 650 tons. To get this piece on its foundation inside the steel mill building, Wagenborg Nedlift’s assistance was requested. The equipment assembly specialists from Nedlift’s Hengelo branch were eager to take this challenge. Equipped with the hydraulic lifting gantry system, 4 strandjack systems, a skidding system and the modular support system, the crew went to Völklingen. Within a few days, the precious giant was installed on its foundation. An assembly job of the highest level! The new steel mill will start up during spring 2010.
