Recently Wagenborg transported 4 offshore coiled tubing reels from Aberdeen , Vlaardingen, Velsen and Schoonebeek  to Jistrum, Munnekezijl, Emmen and Westbeemster  for one of her clients.

The long metal pipes (coiled tubing) for the oil and gas industry are spooled on large reels in order to transport them in an efficient way. For Wagenborg the full scope of transport included  transhipment, road transport, inland water transport and positioning the reels at their final destinations. Water transport (from Vlaardingen via Velsen to Drachten)  applied to one reel.

The reels (up to 4,75 meters length, 2,85 meters width and 4,75 meter height)  were transported by road by different types of Euro low-loaders. Wagenborg used her 120 tonnes and 200 tonnes mobile cranes to tranship the reels.

The biggest challenge during this project was the transport height during road transport in Scotland as the height of bridges in the UK is only 5 meters. This meant a margin of only a few centimetres.

The reels arrived  at their destination according to plan where they  were  positioned to the full satisfaction of the client.
