This spring, NAM closed the gas purification plant in Emmen. Dismantling of the plant was recently started under the supervision of SGS Search Ingenieursbureau. On Monday, 19 November, Wagenborg Nedlift had the honour to remove no fewer than five engines from the plant, using its 500-tonne mobile crane. The engines, weighing approximately 60 tonnes each, were removed completely according to plan on the instructions of VSM Sloopwerken. The total dismantling process will take approximately one year.
NAM is currently investigating the possible role of the site in consideration of the transition to alternative energy resources. The site offers various options, for example, for a hydrogen gas plant, a biogas installation or a solar energy plant.
