Despite gale force winds, the ship slid into the water without a problem.

Gerda Angerman, spouse of Erik Veninga, christened the vessel and named her Eemshorn. The Eemshorn is the fifteenth vessel in a series of twenty ice-strenghtened 6000 tons. These ships are build by Shipyard Ferus Smit, apart from two, commissioned by Wagenborg Shipping and affiliated captain-owners.
