Recently the highest point was reached in the construction of a huge green house by main contractor Volker Wessels for a new zoo, a great mile stone. It is the first of a total of ten trusses for the new green house in the park, which will become one of the largest in Europe measuring a surface of about three soccer fields.

To install the trusses on their final positions, Wagenborg delivered two crawler cranes of 130 and 200 tonnes lifting capacity. The largest truss measures 66 in length and 36 tonne in weight. The total span of the trusses will measure 110 meters. It was important to determine accurately the center of gravity before starting the lifting operations since this could not be adjusted during the hoist. Together with the customer the center of gravity was calculated to ensure a smooth lifting job.

At 5:00 AM the lifting operations were ready to start and within 2,5 hours the first truss was installed succesfully in accordance with the tight time frame. Besides the two crawler cranes Wagenborg also supported with several telescopic cranes.

The show has begun of this beautiful project. In the upcoming period the other nine trusses will be installed.
