Maintenance Support Walk-to-Work Vessel ‘Kroonborg’ of Wagenborg Offshore was nominated Support Vessel of the Year Award. On February 3rd, this prize was presented during the Offshore Support Journal Awards. This event is one of the most anticipated events in the offshore support calendar. Each year more than 500 attendees from all sectors of the offshore business gather in London to celebrate the industry's best performances from the past year.
The prestigious Support Vessel of the Year Award is awarded to the owner, designer and builder of an offshore support vessel delivered in 2015 which is considered to have set an industry benchmark through innovative design and efficient operation.
Royal Wagenborg is proud to be nominated for this award. Edwin de Vries, director for Wagenborg Offshore: “Last we year we already won the KNVTS Ship of the Year award. Now we are nominated for the OSJ Support Vessel of the Year Award. For us this is really an affirmation that our walk-to-work concept of ‘KROONBORG’ is highly appreciated in the offshore industry!".
With the Maintenance Support Walk-to-Work Vessel Kroonborg, a new standard is introduced to the offshore industry. Kroonborg is the result of thorough research and design in close cooperation between shipbuilder, client, end-user and various suppliers. “Kroonborg is like a Swiss army knife at sea for NAM/Shell. They are able to execute various activities with the vessel on unmanned production platforms in the Southern North Sea. Kroonborg enables employees to reach the platforms in a comfortable manner, where they can execute their work and thus in a safe and very efficient way. But the vessel’s unique concept is not only suitable for the oil and gas industry. We also see possibilities for the offshore wind industry with this type of vessel”, concludes Edwin de Vries.
