Some celebrities get a street named after them, but singer Leen Huijzer got two complete towers at once. Two of the three Marconi Towers in Rotterdam have recently been renamed The Lee Towers. They are currently being transformed from offices to homes. This work required various building materials and a new window-cleaning installation to be lifted to the roof at a height of 94(!) metres. An important condition was that the busy Galvanistraat had to remain accessible for the emergency services.

Wagenborg used its 700-tonne crane for this project with a 45.5-metre main boom, 84-metre luffing jib and 100-tonne counterweight configuration. The crane was set up on half-outrigger base, to allow passage to the emergency services. This configuration gave the crane more than enough capacity to lift 5,000 kg at 94 metres height and a radius of 62 metres.

Thanks to the favourable weather conditions, the work could be carried out entirely according to schedule and resulted in much attention and many beautiful images!
