Last week, The Bio Golden Raand project in Farmsum (NL) reached a new milestone: delivery of the power island. This major part of the new powerplant will transfer the heat of the boiler into green energy. The largest equipment piece, a huge steam turbine with a weight of 172 tons and a length of almost 10 meters, was transported by inland water vessel from Germany to the quayside in Farmsum. Two huge cranes from Wagenborg Nedlift, with a lifting capacity of 500 tons each, lifted the giant from the ship onto a special trailer which brought the precious cargo to the project site. Once arrived, the power islands parts were lifted in an ingenious way into the power plant building at a height of 7 meters.
