During the ‘ESTA’s Users Night 2018’, ESTA (the European association for abnormal transport and crane rental industry) announced Wagenborg Nedlift as winner in two categories! Wagenborg proudly accepted an ESTA award for the project Pontsteiger Amsterdam (category ‘cranes telescopic lifting capacity >120 t’) and for the project Kirkenes (category ‘SPMT’).
Pontsteiger Amsterdam (category ‘cranes telescopic lifting capacity >120 t’)
In 2017, Wagenborg transported and positioned 4 enormous steel beams destined for the Pontsteiger in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). The Pontsteiger in Amsterdam will be one of the biggest and highest residential buildings of Amsterdam, designed by architectural firm Arons & Gelauff.
Wagenborg deployed two 500 tonnes mobile cranes (both equipped with luffing jib) to position the beams, measuring up to 48,5 meters and weighing up to 78 tonnes each. The Pontsteiger is located on the river IJ, a beautiful, but very tight location to position the cranes as they had to be positioned between the building and the sheet piling. Not a problem for Wagenborg, just an interesting challenge. In close cooperation with all parties involved, Wagenborg positioned the first beam according to plan. While positioning the beams, craftsmanship and communication between the crane operators was paramount, considering that the margin to maneuver was only millimeters. Transport and positioning bridge Kirkenes (category ‘SPMT’)
In 2017, Wagenborg transported the ‘Bokfjord Bridge’, weighing 760 tonnes, from Wilhelmshaven (Germany) to Kirkenes (Norway) by pontoon. A voyage of more than 1.500 miles! In the port of Kirkenes, the pontoon is moored in the fjord and the bridge is jacked at the right height. Hereafter, the bridge is turned 90 degrees and positioned onto foundation. A spectacular job! ESTA expressed her appreciation for this job by awarding this project as winning project. Click here if you would like to read more about this project.
We herewith would like to thank everyone who contributed to this fantastic result. We are proud to add these ESTA awards to our collection!
