After discharging part of the cargo in Eemshaven, the seventh month old Americaborg arrived in her home port Delfzijl on January 24th with 13.000 ton citrus pellets. It was the first time an A-series vessel came home. To mark this special occasion, a “first call”, captain Karel Korpershoek received from harbour master André Bruijn a Groningen Seaports coat of arms
Americaborg was delivered to us by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, Shanghai, June 28th of last year and is after Amstelborg, Arneborg, Amazoneborg and Asiaborg the fifth in a 1A ice-class, multi purpose vessel of 17.300 ton DWT built by the Chinese yard. Followed by Australiaborg and Africaborg, while Atlanticborg will be delivered end of February. To this series two more vessels will be added in 2009. In the mean time contracts have been signed for a further expansion of this fleet equipped with three 60 ton deck cranes.
These A-vessels are transporting forest products, steel, project- cargo and containers world-wide.

Americaborg was carrying a full load of citrus-pellets, taken in at Tampa, Florida. After arrival in Delfzijl the cranes took out the first load at 02:00 hrs. The cargo will be stored in the Wagenborg Bulk Terminal and the Wagenborg Stevedoring warehouse.
Americaborg will leave Delfzijl January 26th between 08:00
and 12:00 hrs.
