Recently, in the port of Hamburg, Wagenborg Towage arranged the transport of a container crane weighing 1500 tons. Because of its measurements, Wagenborg Barge 7 (measuring 100x33x7.6m), together with the tug Waterstraat were deployed. Since the difference between high and low tide was quite significant, extensive engineering of this RoRo operation, in combination with a precise ballast-plan, was required. The crane was transported onto the barge by means of a new generation SPMT. Excellent co-operation between the ballast-engineer, bargemaster and the SPMT operators resulted in a very successful RoRo (Roll on/Roll off) operation. After securing the crane, barge WB7 sailed to its final position, where the crane, at high tide, was driven off the barge. After completing another successful task, Waterstraat with WB7 in tow, returned to their home-port.
