Wagenborg contributes to building project new Hunte bridge in Germany
Last weekend the logistic experts of Wagenborg lowered two concrete girders from a height of 30 meters in Oldenburg. These girders are part of the old ‘Hunte bridge’ at the A29 motorway in Germany and had to be removed in the rebuilding project of this bridge.
Another EasyMax 4 milestone: installation of the bridge deck
In the heart of the North Dutch maritime cluster, another milestone has been reached in the construction of the EasyMax 4 vessel at the Niestern Sander shipyard. On this next generation vessel, built for the shipping company Wagenborg, the bridge deck was installed safe and successfully. This milestone not only marks a crucial moment in the shipbuilding process, but also underlines the seamless cooperation and dedication of our people in realising future-proof solutions.
Wagenborg strengthens market position with Ampelmann gangway installation on W2W vessel Kingsborg
Wagenborg, a leading maritime service provider, has recently announced a significant upgrade to its walk-to-work (W2W) vessel, Kingsborg. The vessel returned to the Niestern Sander shipyard for the installation of an A-type Ampelmann gangway, further enhancing its capabilities in the offshore energy sector, particularly in the Southern North Sea.

Building on a legacy
1898
Founder Egbert Wagenborg settles ashore and started the family company offering shipping, ferry, towage and steveroring services in the first decade of the 20th century.
1950
The Wagenborg was growing significantly with a series of 500 tons vessels, all with a -borg name.
1986
The concession for the ferry connection between Ameland and Schiermonnikoog was awarded privately to Wagenborg by the national government.
2000
After the previous takeovers of multiple crane companies, such as Kramer and Lommerts KSM, the Van Wezel Group was acquired. Wagenborg now was able to offer a national coverage of crane rental and lifting services.
2008
Wagenborg acquires 100% of Royal Niestern Sander resulting in the availability of an in-house shipyard for fleet development, new building and maintenance.
2013
Wagenborg and Shell sign a 10-year contract for the walk to work vessel Kroonborg. This new type of vessels changes the standard for offshore maintenance on the North Sea.
2017
Innovative EasyMax series wins Shipping Award due to its hull shape, latge intake, ice class 1A and minimal engine power resulting in the world’s most energy efficient ship in its segment.
2025
Construction of the first European built dedicated CO2 carrier to serve INEOS Energy in a CCS project on the North Sea.
1924
The first chartering of a sea going vessel involved a cargo of roof tiles for the vessel ‘Weldaad’ of Daniël Pot.
1974
After the Scheldeborg (2.400 dwt) as the first ice-classed box-shaped timber ship, the 3.500 DWT Maasborg was added tot he fleet.
1992
With the introduction of 9,000-tonners, Wagenborg was able to serve the Transatlantic market in addition to its growing presence in the European market with 4,000-tonners.
2003
To be directly present on the Swedish and North American market, Wagenborg starts local chartering branche offices in Malmö and Montréal.
2011
Wagenborg starts crewing offices in Manila and St. Petersburg next to the Delfzijl crewing office to improve the recruitment and development of Wagenborg crew members.
2014
Wagenborg completes a periode of 15 years of shipbuilding at several shipyards resulting in over 100 vessels between 8.000 and 21.000 DWT with the highest Finnish/Swedish 1A ice class.
2022
Acquisition of two 80 tBP ASD tugs tugs to strengthen the position in the Dutch ports of Delfzijl and Eemshaven and its LNG terminal.
2026
Construction of a new generations of fuel flex EasyMax 2.0 vessels. These 14.000 DWT general cargo vessels are prepared for sailing on methanol, ammonia and LNG.
