Great interest in launch of latest Wagenborg new building vessel at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander
On Wednesday 25 February, the latest vessel in Wagenborg’s successful EasyMax series was launched at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. The EasyMax 6 represents the next milestone in a programme that has become a symbol of Dutch maritime expertise, regional craftsmanship, and Wagenborg’s commitment to efficient and sustainable shipping. The launch attracted a wide audience, including dozens of children from the surrounding communities, who were invited to witness this special moment during their spring holiday.
For Wagenborg, the EasyMax 6 is more than another 14.000 DWT vessel. It is the proof of a long-standing partnership within the Northern Netherlands maritime cluster. The ship has been built largely by local subcontractors, reinforcing the company’s role as a major private employer and a driving force in the local economy. This cooperation reflects the reliability and trust that have defined Wagenborg for more than 125 years.
Inspiring the next generation
As a company deeply rooted in the region, Wagenborg believes in fostering a strong connection with society and inspiring the next generation. That is why we invited children to the launch. Offering young people a behind-the-scenes look at modern shipbuilding not only creates lasting memories, but also showcases the opportunities of a vital and innovative industry in their own backyard.
Seeing so many children at the launch today was truly special. They are the next generation who will shape the future of our region and possibly our industry. By opening our doors and letting them experience shipbuilding up close, we hope to spark curiosity, pride, and maybe even new maritime careers. This is how we keep our sector strong for the decades ahead.
