Transport aft ship section EasyMax 6 marks next step in newbuilding for Wagenborg
The aft ship section of yard number 855 was safely and succesfully transported from the construction hall to the quay side at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. This vessel, under construction as EasyMax 6, is being built for Wagenborg and is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2026.
The transport operation involved moving the completed aft ship section, including the main engine. This section, weighing nearly 800 tonnes, was transported by means of 2x12 and 2x6 axles of Self Propelled Modular Trailers. With this section now in place at the quay side, preparations will continue for joining it with the other sections. This marks a key milestone in the assembly process of the sixth EasyMax vessel.
EasyMax new building programme
The EasyMax concept was introduced by Wagenborg in 2017 as a new generation of multipurpose cargo ships. The design combines a large cargo capacity with optimized fuel efficiency, resulting in significantly lower emissions compared to conventional vessels in its class. With a deadweight of approximately 14,000 tonnes, EasyMax ships offer maximum flexibility for various cargo types, including forest products, steel, and project cargo.
Earlier this year Wagenborg ordered six new generation of fuel flex EasyMax 2.0 vessels. This series fits within the fleet renewal strategy of the Dutch shipping company.
