Wagenborg celebrates Day of the Seafarer: “Respect is the course we steer”

June 25 marks the International Day of the Seafarer, an annual initiative by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to recognize the vital contribution of seafarers to global trade and society. With more than 2,000 crew members at sea, this day is especially meaningful to Wagenborg. Our vessels operate 24/7, year-round — and it’s our seafarers who make that possible. Today, and every day, we thank them for their expertise, teamwork, and resilience.

As a family-owned company, we place strong value on people — not just as professionals, but as individuals. Aboard every ship, we believe in fostering a culture of safety, fairness, and mutual respect.

This year’s IMO theme is: “My Harassment-Free Ship” — a bold call to action for all shipping companies to commit to zero tolerance for bullying, harassment and discrimination at sea. As a family company we fully support and embrace this.

Creating a respectful work environment is not just a matter of compliance — it’s a reflection of our core values. Whether someone is on their first voyage or their fiftieth, every crew member deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued.

We thank all Wagenborg seafarers for their commitment and integrity they bring to the job — and for the way they treat each other along the way. You are the heart of our company, and we are proud to sail together. For sure.
