Successful maiden voyage EasyMax vessel 'Máxima'

The m.v. Máxima - the latest sustainable MPP vessel in the Wagenborg fleet - successfully completed her maiden voyage. After loading SBP certified wood chips for HOFOR A/S in Antwerp, the EasyMax multi purpose vessel set direction to the biomass CHP plant 'Amagerværket' in Copenhagen.

Greenest multipurpose vessel in her class

The EasyMax ship concept is the latest and greenest type of ship in the Wagenborg fleet. Wagenborg was awarded the Maritime Shipping Award for this ship design in 2018, partly due to its superior fuel efficiency. With a cargo capacity of more than 14.000 tonnes and a large hold intake of 625.000 cbft, Wagenborg was able to build a relatively large vessel without a major increase in overall dimensions. With an installed power of less than 3.000 kW and an aerodynamic hull shape, the m.v. Máxima has an extremely low fuel consumption resulting in over 60% savings in CO2- emissions compared to her peer group. This makes the EasyMax the greenest multipurpose vessel in her class, which fits perfectly in the sustainability strategy of Wagenborg.

CO2 reduction as a common goal

With the m.v. Máxima, the second EasyMax vessel, Wagenborg actively supports the CO2 reduction goals of many companies, such as HOFOR A/S. HOFOR A/S is the main utility company in Copenhagen and it is owned by 9 municipalities in the greater Copenhagen area. The “Amagerværket” combined heat and power plant supplies 30% of Copenhagen’s district heating demand during the winter. The City of Copenhagen aims to be the world's first CO2 neutral capital by 2025. Green district heating is an important prerequisite for achieving this goal.

Wagenborg is pleased to be able to support this ambitious sustainability goal with the m.v. Máxima. We are convinced the EasyMax ship type will continue to contribute to the position of Wagenborg Shipping as a leading multi-purpose shipping company.
