Founded in 1898, Royal Wagenborg is an international maritime logistics conglomerate. The family-owned and managed company offers a variety of sustainable maritime logistics services with regard to shipping, ports & terminals and offshore services. Managed out of the Delfzijl (NL) headquarters, Wagenborg has built a global commercial network. With about 3,000 employees Wagenborg serves clients predominantly in the Baltic, northwest Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas and the Far East.

Our history

1898

Founding father Egbert Wagenborg settled ashore and started a small, but successful concern in the area of shipping, towage and passenger services.

1966

Wagenborg introduced box-shaped holds to respond to the entry of the timber package trade.

1998

In the anniversary year, Wagenborg was awarded the designation “Royal”.

2014

Wagenborg completes an important period of 15 years of shipbuilding at several shipyards resulting in over 100 vessels between 8.000 and 21.000 DWT with the highest Finnish Ice Class.

Wagenborg won the Maritime Shipping Award with her vessel type EasyMax, a leader in terms of sustainability with a load capacity of 14,300 DWT and a very low fuel consumption.

With a large fleet of coasters and difficulty to find inspiration for new ship names, Wagenborg decides to name the ships after rivers with the extension "borg" added on.

A change of management takes place as the fourth generation Wagenborg are appointed directors of Wagenborg.

With the establishment of an office in Malmö and Montréal, Wagenborg is globally expanding.

The walk to work vessel ‘Kroonborg’ was awarded Ship of the Year.

Wagenborg is expanding her agency services with various branch offices in Europe including Terneuzen (Netherlands), Kotka, (Finland) and Haraholmen (Sweden).

22 February 2024 Successful first voyages EasyMax vessel ‘Amalia’

After delivery in January the m.v. Amalia - the latest sustainable MPP vessel in the Wagenborg fleet – left her home port Delfzijl for her first voyages. Under command of captain Joenamar S. Bacuetes the first voyages have been completed successfully.

12 February 2024 Construction EasyMax 4 in full swing

Recently, the first sections of the fourth EasyMax have been transported from the construction hall to the quay side at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. With this transport the shape of the vessel becomes visible again.

05 February 2024 100 years Wagenborg and Pot Shipping

Today we celebrate the 100 year partnership between Wagenborg and Pot Shipping. In 5 February 1924 the first sea charter of Wagenborg was concluded. This voyages enclosed a load of roof tiles and was performed with Daniël Pot’s vessel ‘Weldaad’.
