First lock gate successfully delivered to Brunsbüttel
In a remarkable display of precision and teamwork, Wagenborg’s tugboats Waterland and Wulf 4 have successfully transported the first lock gate from Eemshaven to its final destination in Brunsbüttel. This milestone marks a crucial step in one of Northern Europe’s most significant infrastructure projects, reinforcing Wagenborg’s reputation as a reliable partner for complex maritime logistics.
A journey of expertise and coordination
Before reaching Brunsbüttel, the lock gate underwent an extensive preparation process. Fabricated in Emden, the massive structure was first moved to Eemshaven, where Wagenborg teams executed a challenging RoRo operation and performed essential water-based testing. These steps ensured the gate met all technical and safety requirements before embarking on its final voyage. The successful completion of this phase demonstrates Wagenborg’s ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering solutions.
Looking ahead: two more gates to follow
This achievement is only the beginning. In spring, two additional lock gates will follow the same route. Each will be transported from the fabrication hall in Emden to Eemshaven, lifted into the water for rigorous testing, and then shipped to Brunsbüttel. These operations demand meticulous planning and flawless execution—qualities Wagenborg consistently delivers. By managing every stage of this complex logistics chain, Wagenborg proves its capability to handle large-scale infrastructure projects with confidence and care.
This successful delivery underlines Wagenborg’s strategic focus on the infrastructure market and its ability to provide integrated solutions for complex maritime challenges. With two more lock gates scheduled for transport in the coming months, Wagenborg remains committed to delivering excellence—step by step, gate by gate.
