Four CO₂ tanks loaded for Carbon Destroyer 1
This week marks an important milestone in the development of the Carbon Destroyer 1, the innovative CO₂ carrier currently under construction at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. In Harelbeke, Belgium, four large CO₂ tanks were successfully loaded onto two inland vessels. These tanks are essential components of the carrier’s storage system and will enable the vessel to transport captured CO₂ safely and efficiently.
The inland vessels are expected to arrive in Delfzijl around the weekend, where preparations for installation will be started upon arrival. Next week, the tanks will be carefully placed on board the Carbon Destroyer 1 using Wagenborg’s floating crane Triton, bringing us one step closer to realizing this groundbreaking project.
The Carbon Destroyer 1 represents a major step forward in sustainable shipping and carbon capture logistics. By enabling the transport of CO₂ from industrial sites to storage or reuse facilities, this vessel contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supports the transition to a low-carbon economy.
At Wagenborg, we are proud to play a role in this innovative solution. Together with our partners, we continue to deliver tailor-made logistics that make a difference for current and future generations.
