Year overview 2025
2025 was a year in which we not only achieved goals but also pushed boundaries. We collaborated on innovative solutions, sustainable initiatives, and strong connections both within and outside our organization. Every project, every collaboration, and every step forward contributed to a future in which we can be proud of what we have achieved together.
This year demonstrated that growth isn't just about numbers, but about people, ideas, and the power of collaboration. With this energy, we look confidently towards 2026: a year in which we continue to innovate, inspire, and make an impact.
January
MASTERFUL TRANSPORT OF IMMENSE LOCK GATES BY WAGENBORG
For the construction of a new lock complex in Brunsbüttel, Germany, Wagenborg transported three new lock gates in Emden. On three consecutive days, these lock gates with a total weight of over 2,500 tons each were driven out of the manufacturing hall. For this, Wagenborg deployed no less than 136 axle lines of SPMT. In the course of this year, Wagenborg shipped the first lock door by pontoon to its final destination.

WAGENBORG CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF WALK TO WORK OPERATIONS IN THE NORTH SEA
Ten years ago, Wagenborg launched the ‘walk to work’ vessel KROONBORG to support offshore operations for NAM/Shell UK in the Southern North Sea. As the world's first walk to work vessel, KROONBORG revolutionized safe, reliable, and year-round offshore maintenance. In February, Wagenborg proudly marks its leadership in this niche, with five operational walk to work vessels in the Southern North Sea.

EEMSBORG OPENS THE GREAT LAKES SHIPPING SEASON WITH FIRST ARRIVAL IN HAMILTON
Wagenborg proudly announces that its vessel Eemsborg has made the first ocean-going arrival of the season in the Port of Hamilton, marking the official start of the 2025 Great Lakes shipping season. Captain Shang and his crew of the MV Eemsborg earned the ceremonial ‘Top Hat’ distinction as the first ship in Hamilton port to import cargo, with the ship arriving March 26 with a load of steel. This milestone underscores the strategic importance of the Great Lakes for Wagenborg’s operations and its commitment to reliable year-round logistics solutions.

At this year's annual ESTA Awards, we won in the SPMT category. We won with a smart railway bridge solution in Wesel. A fantastic recognition of all our work.

WAGENBORG AND INEOS CELEBRATE CHRISTENING AND LAUNCH OF FIRST EUROPEAN-BUILT OFFSHORE CO₂ CARRIER FOR CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE (CCS)
Royal Wagenborg and INEOS Energy have launched and named the first European built offshore CO2 carrier to enable carbon capture storage across Europe. The launching and naming of the ‘Carbon Destroyer 1’ marks a major breakthrough for Project Greensand and Carbon Capture and Storage across the EU.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024 PUBLISHED
In 2024, we achieved strong results in sustainability, as highlighted in our recently published Sustainability Report. The energy efficiency of our vessels has improved, and CO2 emissions have decreased with 27,8% compared to 2008. Additionally, the report emphasizes that safety remains an absolute priority, with a reduction in the number of accidents compared to the previous year.
Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on maintaining a safe working environment, operating a clean fleet, and optimizing energy efficiency. Constructive collaboration with employees, customers, and partners remains essential for a successful future.

SUCCESSFUL SUBSEA CABLE SHIPMENT FROM GREECE TO THE NETHERLANDS BY WAGENBORG'S NASSAUBORG
Royal Wagenborg announces the successful offshore transport of a full set of Inter Array Cables from Greece to the Netherlands using its versatile general cargo vessel Nassauborg. This milestone highlights Wagenborg’s dedication to delivering reliable, cost-effective transport solutions for complex offshore energy projects worldwide.

WAGENBORG SIGNS LONG-TERM CONTRACT WITH METSÄ GROUP
Metsä Group and Wagenborg have been working togther closely for multiple decades resulting in a partnership in April 2023. In our meetings, held twice a year, we have worked on communication, cooperation, and improving our mutual services. In recent months, colleagues in Finland, Montréal and Delfzijl have worked hard on a long-term contract for the transport of forest products (timber, wood pulp and different paper products) from Finland to North America. Despite the current economic challenges and a low market, both partners feel confident this cooperation will be a success.

ECOVADIS BRONZE MEDAL ACHIEVED, ON THE WAY TO SILVER
Many companies have their sustainability performance assessed by EcoVadis. We have also signed up for this, and recently, we were awarded the bronze medal for our sustainability achievements. This is a wonderful recognition of the steps we have taken in this area over the past few years. EcoVadis evaluates companies on topics such as environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The bronze medal shows that we are on the right track and that more and more processes are being formally secured. Think of vetting procedures and policies regarding sustainable procurement. This is how we are step by step realizing our ambition.

WAGENBORG LAYS KEEL FOR SIX NEXT-GENERATION FUEL FLEX EASYMAX 2.0 VESSELS
Royal Wagenborg has officially laid the keel for six new EasyMax 2 vessels at Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in Delfzijl in presence of Bureau Veritas marking a bold step forward in sustainable shipping and regional industrial innovation. This significant newbuilding order reflects Wagenborg’s long-term commitment to fleet renewal, energy efficiency and sustainable shipping. The new generation of 14.000 DWT EasyMax vessels will be ready for sailing on methanol, ammonia or LNG.

TRANSPORT OF SIX TRANSFORMERS BETWEEN VEENDAM AND TER APELKANAAL COMPLETED
Wagenborg transported six heavy transformers from Veendam to Ter Apelkanaal. Thanks to tight planning, careful route preparation, and close coordination with residents and municipalities, the transportation went safely and smoothly. Wagenborg demonstrated not only logistical expertise but also commitment to the local community and attention to quality of life issues during complex transportation.

FOUR CO₂ TANKS INSTALLED IN CARBON DESTROYER 1
This month marks an important milestone in the development of the Carbon Destroyer 1, the innovative CO₂ carrier currently under construction at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. In Delfzijl the CO₂ tanks were successfully installed in the first European built CO2 carrier. These tanks are essential components of the carrier’s storage system and will enable the vessel to transport captured CO₂ safely and efficiently into the Danish Nini field.
