Diversity

Safety first!

Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Wagenborg—whether at sea, onshore, or offshore. Our vision is clear: everyone should return home safely—every day. Safety is deeply embedded in our culture. In 2024, we reinforced this by investing in smarter systems, practical training, and transparent reporting. Our HSE policy applies to all staff, suppliers, and contractors. We enhanced risk assessments, introduced predictive maintenance tools, and promoted open reporting of near-misses. These efforts are part of our zero-incident ambition, where every colleague knows safety is a shared responsibility. We believe prevention starts with awareness—and ends with action. Our strategic priorities focus on:

  • Preventing serious incidents: maintaining a fatalities rate of zero. We want every person working for Wagenborg to come home safely.

  • Strive towards zero accidents: we focus on safe operations and aim to prevent dangerous situations by achieving a Lost Time Injury Frequency <5.0

  • Absenteeism rate: we strive to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees resulting in an absenteeism rate <3.0%

Employer Engagement

We see employee engagement as the foundation for loyalty, performance, and well-being. In 2024, we strengthened our feedback channels, launched mentoring programmes, and focused on sustainable employability. Crew and shore staff were actively involved in shaping policy, and leadership development was scaled through the WATER programme. Health support and flexible work practices were introduced to promote balance. Through listening and acting, we build a culture of trust and purpose—where everyone feels valued and heard.

  • We invest in our people to ensure it is likely that Royal Wagenborg is recommended as an employer.
  • Our ambition is to retain talent and reduce regretted losses.

Diversity

At Wagenborg, diversity is about creating equal chances for all. In 2024, we took concrete steps to make inclusion measurable and meaningful. We integrated diversity goals into our ESG priorities and tracked progress via KPIs. Female representation in leadership roles improved, supported by inclusive recruitment training and new partnerships with schools. We also fostered awareness through internal campaigns and dialogue. Diversity isn’t a buzzword—it’s a strategic strength that builds better teams and better decisions.

With more than 2,000 crew members at sea, this day is especially meaningful to Wagenborg. Our vessels operate 24/7, year-round — and it’s our seafarers who make that possible. Today, and every day, we thank them for their expertise, teamwork, and resilience.
