A retrospect on 2022

As of January 1st 2022, Wagenborg Agencies Sweden is operational to offer full agency services in all Swedish ports. With Wagenborg’s leading position in the shipping and logistics market – including the Swedish market - the expansion of agency services to Sweden is a valuable addition to Wagenborg’s network of serviced ports. The main focus of the Swedish agency office will be the northern ports such as Karlsborg, Luleå, Haraholmen and Skellefteåhamn. 

In February 2022, Wagenborg Offshore has signed a contract with Damen Shipyard and Ampelmann Operations for the operations of the world’s first Fast Crew Supplier. The scope of this agreement includes crew management, HSEQ and technical maintenance of the offshore vessel.

At the end of March, Wagenborg Offshore has taken its fourth walk-to-work vessel (w2w) into service as Koenigsborg. Koenigsborg is used as a standby and support vessel for inspection and maintenance of unmanned platforms in the southern north sea.

In April, Wagenborg Shipping placed an order at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard for the construction of a sister ship of the Egbert Wagenborg and the Máxima. The third vessel of this EasyMax type is expected to be delivered in 2023. In addition, an option has also been taken on a fourth EasyMax.

After 10 weeks of outfitting and commissioning at the Wagenborg terminal, the cruise ship 'Disney Wish' left Eemshaven. During this period, Wagenborg's shipping agents have done a lot of work.

The walk to work vessel 'Koenigsborg' has been awarded the Vessel Conversion of the Year Award 2022 during the Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference in London.

In July Wagenborg was taking the next steps towards embedding the care for people, planet and profit into all our supply chains, by introducing a Supplier Code of Conduct. It is outlining both Wagenborg’s minimum requirements and aspirations for all Wagenborg suppliers in the areas of

Human and labour rights, Health and safety, Business ethics and Environmental performance.

In August Wagenborg has acquired a 80-tonnes bollard pull ASD 3280 Tug. This new tug, named ‘WATERLINES’, Wagenborg strengthens her position in the towage market in the Eemshaven and Ems region.

In September the LNG terminal in Eemshaven received the first LNG tanker under agency of Wagenborg. Assisted by multiple tugs - including the Wagenborg tugs Waterlines, Waterstraat and Waterstroom – this first LNG tanker moored successfully at the Wagenborg terminal with the assistance of the Wagenborg tug boats.

The MV Koningsborg has been taken into service again after her fifth class renewal. After this refit, the 9.000 DWT K-type vessel was put back into operation for many more years of reliable service. Besides Koningsborg, 24 vessels within the Wagenborg fleet had surveys to remain Wagenborg quality standards.

Starting in October various mutations have taken place within the Wagenborg fleet. Multiple vessels within the Wagenborg fleet changed ownership and were given a ‘BORG’-name, such as Neuseborg, Nijlborg, Neckarborg, Plataanborg, Ohioborg, Eikborg, Iepborg and Jalonborg.

Wagenborg Shipping and Royal Niestern Sander shipyard have come to an agreement to start the construction of another 14.000 DWT EasyMax vessel. This fourth vessel in the EasyMax series is expected to be delivered in autumn 2024.
