Founded in 1898, Royal Wagenborg is an international maritime logistics conglomerate. The family owned and managed company offers a variety of maritime services with regard to shipping, ports & terminals and offshore services. Managed out of the Delfzijl (NL) headquarters, Wagenborg has built a global commercial network. With about 3,000 employees Wagenborg serves clients predominantly in the Baltic, northwest Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas and the Far East.

As indicated by governments the transport of cargo should continue and we do our best to ensure this happens. At this moment our vessels are sailing and so far no proven infections have been reported amongst our personnel.

Our history

1898

Founding father Egbert Wagenborg settled ashore and started a small, but successful concern in the area of shipping, towage and passenger services.

1953

With a large fleet of coasters and difficulty to find inspiration for new ship names, Wagenborg decides to name the ships after rivers with the extension "borg" added on.

1988

A change of management takes place as the fourth generation Wagenborg are appointed directors of Wagenborg.

With the establishment of an office in Malmö and Montréal, Wagenborg is globally expanding.

The walk to work vessel ‘Kroonborg’ was awarded Ship of the Year.

Wagenborg completed the first charter: a cargo of roof tiles.

Wagenborg introduced box-shaped holds to respond to the entry of the timber package trade.

In the anniversary year, Wagenborg was awarded the designation “Royal”.

Wagenborg completes an important period of 15 years of shipbuilding at several shipyards resulting in over 100 vessels between 8.000 and 21.000 DWT with the highest Finnish Ice Class.

Wagenborg won the Maritime Shipping Award with her vessel type EasyMax, a leader in terms of sustainability with a load capacity of 14,300 DWT and a very low fuel consumption.

Lower power output, greater efficiency and smarter shipping

That’s the approach Wagenborg is taking towards the energy transition. In the meantime, we’ll be thinking very hard and testing fuel alternatives. Fleet director Theo Klimp talks to us about taking responsibility.

31 March 2020 Construction EasyMax 2 in progress with transport foreship

At the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard, Wagenborg has transported the fore ship section of EasyMax 2 from the construction hall to the quay side. Yard number 851 for Royal Wagenborg and affiliated partners is the second vessel of the type Easymax.

23 March 2020 Wagenborg companies donate masks, safety glasses and disposable coveralls to health care

Several Wagenborg companies have announced that they will donate FFP mouth masks, safety glasses and disposable coveralls at a central collection point in Groningen. From here, distribution can take place to hospitals, clinics, doctor's practices, health services and municipal authorities in the north of the Netherlands.

17 March 2020 Wagenborg serves the vessel Yed Prior in Delfzijl

Yesterday, the vessel Yed Prior arrived in the port of Delfzijl after a stop in the port of Harlingen under agency of Wagenborg. Upon arrival, the Yed Prior received port assistance of the a Wagenborg tug to safely berth at the quay side.
